Upon arrival at Vágar airport you will already find yourself surrounded by impressive nature. At the airport a shuttle await you that will take you to Tórshavn where you will stay for the next seven nights. You get to choose between staying at Hotel Føroyar or Hotel Tórshavn. If you like peace and quiet and being in the middle of nature, then Hotel Føroyar is the hotel for you. If you prefer city life and being downtown, then Hotel Tórshavn is the right hotel for you.
Your guided adventure starts today where you are going on a full day tour to Vágar island. You will be picked up at the hotel and from here you can relax and take in the beautiful scenery while a guide guide explains about the places you pass.
On the tour you will see places such as the lake Sørvágsvatn, also known as “The lake above the ocean”, the statue Nykurin, Bøur, Tindhólmur, Drangarnir and the beautiful waterfall Múlafossur.
Today you will visit the heart of the Faroe Islands. See places like Saksun, Tjørnuvík, Gjógv, Risin & Kellingin also known as the Giant & the Hag and the waterfall Fossá.
In Saksun you will see the seawater lagoon, the beautiful old church, and visit the 16th-century farm Dúvugarðar with its stone walls and turf roofs. Before reaching Tjørnuvík we will stop by Fossá waterfall, which is the tallest waterfall in the Faroe Islands. Tjørnuvík is the northernmost settlement on Streymoy island and is situated in an isolated inlet with towering mountains and a beautiful black sand beach. From the beach, there is a fantastic view of the sea stacks Risin & Kellingin (The Giant and his Hag). Our last village visit will be the peaceful and picturesque Gjógv on the northernmost tip of Eysturoy island.
In the morning you will take the public bus to Gamlarætt from where you will go on a highspeed sightseeing tour to Hestur where you will experience kittiwakes and caves. You will sail closely to the cliffs and caves where you have the chance to see guillemots, puffins, shags, fulmars, eiders and maybe even some seals. If the weather allows it, you will also be able to sail into the caves Álvagjógv and Klæmintsgjógv. After the tour you will be heading back to Tórshavn by bus where you can enjoy a lunch in one of the many charming cafés.
The afternoon offers a tour in the surroundings of Tórshavn on a horseback. The tour is for experienced and inexperienced riders. During the tour you will have a great view over Tórshavn.
In the evening there will be a table booked for you at Skeiva Pakkhús with Italian inspired dishes mainly consisting local produce such as Faroese fish, shellfish, lamb and vegetables. The restaurant combines the greatest produce from the Italian and Faroese kitchen. To top the dining experience off, you get a fantastic view of Tórshavn harbour while enjoying your meal.
are open for you to explore on your own or add on another guided tour. Explore Tórshavn, the smallest capital in the world. Take a walk through the city and visit the old part of town, the craft and wool shops along with a cozy café. If you like artifacts you can visit several museums in the city.
Your last tour experience offers a two hours boat tour to the highly impressive sea cliffs of Vestmanna, where you can experience thousands of birds and singing sea caves. After the boat tour lunch will be served and after lunch you will be heading to Kvívík where you will visit the Viking settlements – This will give you an insight into how the Vikings lived. There will also be a stop in Leynar and on the old mountain road that takes you back to Tórshavn. From the mountain road you will have a great panoramic view.
The evening offers a farewell dinner at Ruts restaurant which is placed at Hotel Føroyar. Ruts restaurant is an evening restaurant with vegetarian and pescatarian set menus consisting mainly of local and seasonal ingredients. To complement the innovative menus, you get to enjoy the best view in town overlooking Tórshavn, Nólsoy and the fjord.
