We will head out of the city via the old mountain road route to Norðadalsskarð, a photographer’s dream, where you will have a moment to enjoy the panoramic view. First stop is the picturesque Saksun surrounded by a mountain amphitheater right in front of Pollurin lagoon. Saksun is a hidden gem located about 10 minutes away from the main road and is especially known for its natural beauty and its houses with turf roof.

Heading onwards, it will take us around half an hour to reach the village of Tjørnuvík. Tjørnuvík lays nestled in a valley surrounded by high mountains and boasts a striking black sandy beach, famous amongst cold waters surfers worldwide. From the beach, we will have a great view of the renowned sea stacks The Giant and the Witch, who, according to legend, tried to drag the Faroe Islands to Iceland.

We will make some photostops on the way. We will stop at the captivating waterfall Fossá, which is the highest waterfall in the Faroe Islands. It is a definite must-see when visiting northern Streymoy and is very picturesque. Afterwards we will catch a glimpse of the highest mountain in the Faroe Islands, Slættaratindur.

The day ends with a visit to the cozy village of Gjógv, named after its deep gorge and known for its beautiful and unique scenery. We will take our time to stroll around the village and enjoy the peculiar beauty of the place and the gorge. For those who wishes to, there is a short walk along a path out to a viewpoint slightly above the village.

On this tour we will explore the Northern Islands. We will visit the wonderful Borðoy, where we will explore the city Klaksvík, which is known as the heart of the fishing industry. Then we will visit the secluded village Kunoy – which funny enough is on the island Kunoy – before going to the beautiful village Viðareiði, the northernmost village in the Faroe Islands. On our way back to Tórshavn we will drive through the impressive Subsea tunnel with a roundabout.

On this tour we will drive to Vágar island. Departing from Tórshavn we will take a 20-minute ferry-ride to Nólsoy, the island right outside of Tórshavn. In Nólsoy we will hike to Borðan, where the charming lighthouse and three uninhabited houses are located. This is one of the longer hikes and takes approx. 6-8 hours. After the hike it will be possible to take a stroll through the village and explore the museums, cafés, and small shops that Nólsoy village has to offer. And maybe you will have the opportunity to talk to the friendly locals or see a llama.

Departing from Tórshavn we’ll drive along the fjords and through the tunnels towards Klaksvík. From Klaksvík we’ll take a 20-minute ferry-ride over to the island of Kalsoy during which we’ll get to enjoy the dramatic landscape of the northern islands rising majestically from the sea. A fun fact is that Kalsoy is known for being the “James Bond”-island.

After arriving in Kalsoy and taking in the view we drive onwards to Trøllanes, where the hike to Kallur Lighthouse begins.* The local farmer will greet you and be your local guide for the hike that takes about 2-3 hours in total. The hike is not difficult, and you’ll walk among the farmers’ sheep and wild birdlife providing the perfect opportunity to experience Faroese nature up close. The lighthouse is located on the northernmost edge of the island; its high and dramatic landscape making it a truly mesmerizing experience. At the lighthouse you will eat lunch, while enjoying the view of the Giant and the Witch, who, according to legend, tried to pull the Faroe Islands all the way over to Iceland. You’ll also have the view to the 758-meter-high Cape Enniberg – the northernmost point of the Faroe Islands and one of the highest sea-cliffs in the world.

Afterwards, the journey continues to the pretty village of Mikladalur – which in English means Mighty Valley – where we’ll visit the Seal Woman statue (Kópakonan) and hear about how the mythical tale behind the statue has helped cement her status as one of the islands’ most iconic sites.

Having explored the area and perhaps visited the local café, we commence the journey back to Tórshavn again via the ferry giving you a second chance to appreciate the view of the islands and fjords from the sea.

This tour is an extension of the Kallur Lighthouse hike, where after reaching the lighthouse you will continue to the Borgarin mountain. The hike Kallur Lighthouse and Borgarin takes approx. 4-5 hours in total, and is a little bit more difficult than only hiking to the lighthouse.

This round trip from Gamlarætt in Streymoy to the island of Hestur includes sightseeing around the island. Slowly we move as near as possible to the birds under the cliff, Loftið, which vertical wall measures some 1,200 feet.

Hestur harbours guillemots, puffins, black guillemots, shags, fulmars and eiders. A couple of seal caves are there as well.

If the weather is good, we also sail into the caves, Álvagjógv and Klæmintsgjógv. Current and wind directions decide which way we sail around the island.

On this tour we'll visit Vestmanna and go sailing to see the bird cliffs. When we arrive back at the harbor we stop for food and then continue to Kvívík. Kvívík is nestled in a valley on Streymoy island. This village has historic route dating back to the Vikings.

You will find Viking excavations next to the seaside. Vikings lived in the village as the first settlers in Kvívík. With its historic importance and wonderful location, this quiet settlement is a popular pit stop on a road trip in the archipelago. Gásadalur is a remote village on Vágar island. Until recently it could only be accessed by hiking on foot over the mountains. Now the village is easily accessible through a driving tunnel. A favorite among visitors to the Faroe Islands.

Home to the picturesque waterfall Múlafossur, Gásadalur has a cafe and guesthouse, serving locally sourced lunch, cakes, and coffee. Gásadalur translates directly to “the Goose Valley”.

Strendur is the largest town on the westside of the Skálafjørður fjord on Eysturoy island. Strendur is connected to Runavík and Tórshavn through the longest underwater tunnel in the Faroe Islands: Eysturoyartunnilin.  Eysturoyartunnilin is known for its underwater roundabout, which is the first of its kind in the world. The entrance to the tunnel is by the seaside in Strendur. In Strendur we will visit Snældan a Faroese yarn company, where it will be possible to buy Faroese knitwear and yarn made at the local factory.

We drive north through Skálafjørð and up to the tunnel that goes over to Sundalagið. If you would like to, you can walk over the bridge from Eysturoy to Streymoy, further we drive to Kollafjørð. Kollafjørður is the longest village in the Faroe Islands. The village stretches 7 kilometers along the coastline on Streymoy island.

Then we drive to Tórshavn, where we walk through the old part of town followed by a visit to Kirkjubøur the southernmost village on Streymoy, where we can see the ruins of the Magnus Cathedral from around 1300, the Saint Olav’s Church from 12th century and the old farmhouse Kirkjubøargarður from 11th century.

This experience starts with a drive through the sub-sea tunnel between Tórshavn and Runavík. The tunnel is known for its roundabout and is the first of its kind.

Our first stop is in the beautiful village Æðuvík, where you can walk so close to the sea that you can almost touch it. In Æðuvík the locals see the sun rise from the ocean all year round. Located close to the village are the first windmills in the Faroe Islands. We will drive to the windmills and on a good day it is possible to see almost all the islands in the Faroe Islands. In Toftir the local yarn brand Navia, has a big shop with both yarn and locally produced sweaters.

Gøta is three smaller villages that have almost grown into one, but the locals insist on using all three names. Syðrugøta is widely known for its G! festival that is held annually in July. The special thing about this festival is that it is held on the beach. Gøtugjógv has one of the most magnificent churches in the Faroe Islands with glass windows made by Tróndur Patursson. In Norðagøta the old part of town is well preserved, and there is also a statue of one of the most important persons in the Faroe Islands saga, Tróndur í Gøtu.

Todays last visit is in Fuglafjørður, which is one of the largest fishing towns in the Faroe Islands. It has a cosy café, and an exciting, not widely known souvenir shop called Fjord.

On the way up north, it will be possible to see the whaling station við Áir, it was built in 1905 and run by the Norwegian company Chr. Salvesen & Co until 1930. It is the last of its kind in the Northern Hemisphere.

You will take a short, beautiful walk from Streymnes to Hvalvík where you will see the oldest wooden church in the Faroe Islands.

Eiði is a village on north Eysturoy island. In this picturesque village you will find the famous football stadium nestled next to the Atlantic Ocean.

Near Eiði, you will also have a great view of the two sea stacks Risin & Kellingin.

Saksun is a remote little village on Streymoy island. The village is famous for its unique location placed above a jaw-dropping lagoon. Mountains here are incredible and so are the many waterfalls.

Gjógv is a village located on the northeast tip of the island of Eysturoy. We see the amazing gorge and take a walk around the old village.

Oyndarfjørður is one of the oldest Faroese settlements. Written sources from the 14th century tell that the settlement was also a larger settlement further back in time. At the beach below the village are the two Rocking stones (Rinkusteinar), which are set in motion by the waves. To see if they move, a rope is tied from the rocks to the mainland so that you can follow the movements. Legend has it that there was an old sorceress in Oyndarfjørður, who cursed two pirate ships so that they turned to stone and would forever stand by the beach, rocking restlessly back and forth.

Elduvík is a traditional village in the unspoiled Faroe Islands located on Eysturoy island. The houses stand as if they have been dropped from the sky and found their place by chance.

Elduvík offers you a variety of charming yards, paths, steps, and ledges. People seeking the opposite of modern straightness will find pleasure here.

We make some photo stops on our way, such as Risin and Kellingin, Fossá Waterfall and the famous football stadium nestled next to the Atlantic Ocean.

Viðareiði is in the Northern region and the northernmost village in the Faroe Islands. Visiting Viðareiði on Viðoy island is always rewarding.

Klaksvík is the fishing capital of the Faroe Islands and here it will be possible to try the Faroes Fish and chips in the local bakery. We will proceed to Gjógv to see the fantastic gorge and further to Tjørnuvík where we can enjoy the amazing view of Risin and Kellingin

The journey starts at Hotel Føroyar with pick-up at 13.00 or at the ferry port in Sørvágur where a boat will be ready to sail you to the islet Tindhólmur. After 10 minute sail, passing Drangarnir, you will arrive at Tindhólmur. You will get a guided tour around the islet, where you will hear the stories about the islet and its peaks. Like on the island Mykines, puffins breed on the islet, which means you will be able to go bird watching and very likely get close to the puffins. Furthermore, you will get the chance to lake swim in one of the most beautiful surroundings, the Faroe Islands have to offer. You also have the opportunity for some cliff jumping. Afterwards you will be served with a packed lunch outside the only two houses on the islet.

The journey starts at Hotel Føroyar with pick-up at 08.00 or at the ferry port in Sørvágur at 09.00. From here the boat Jósup will sail you to Mykines past Drangarnir and Tindhólm. You will also see the villages Bøur and Gásadalur, where you can see the waterfall Múlafossur from the sea. After sailing for about 40 minutes, you will arrive to Mykines port. From here you will get a guided tour around the islet where you will be presented with the best puffin spots. During the tour you get to enjoy a packed lunch while you are surrounded by the beautiful nature. Afterwards we will head back to the only and lovely small village of Mykines with old turf-roofed houses where you will get to enjoy a nice cup of coffee or tea at a local café.

Enjoy a yoga session in Velbastaður where yoga instructor Heibrith will invite you to her lovely home in Velbastaður. If the weather allows it you will start with 1 hour yoga on the outdoor terrace where you have an amazing view over Sandoy and Hestur island – If not yoga will be inside. On this 1,5-hourfamily-friendly sightseeing tour, you’ll be guided by our experienced skipper, Elias. A long-time Sørvágur resident, Elias knows the area intimately and has plenty of stories to tell about the local surroundings. Elias will take you as close to Drangarnir as possible and, if weather permits it, you’ll sail through the stacks, under the arch. Múlafossur waterfall, in the village of Gásadalur, is only a short distance away and can also be visited.
