None the less, we assure you that this is an experience that you will remember and cherish.
Today we welcome you to our 18 islands in the North Atlantic. During the next couple of days, you will get a great overview of the Faroese culture, history, and food. Upon arrival you can choose either a rental car or airport shuttle, either way you will be heading towards Tórshavn where you will be checking in at Hotel Føroyar or Hotel Tórshavn. Hotel Føroyar is located on a hill with an amazing city & sea view. Hotel Tórshavn is a city hotel and is located in the heart of Tórshavn, Vágsbotnur.
You will start your experience with a three-hour private tour by foot in Tórshavn. You will visit the old part of town “úti á Reyni”, the world’s oldest parliament “Tinganes” and the fort “Skansin”. During the tour you will get a good overview of the Faroese history and the city’s architecture. In the evening you will be served a delicious dinner at Ruts restaurant, located at Hotel Føroyar.

Your exploration of Faroe Islands has not been completed without experiencing them by sea. Today you will sail in a traditional Faroese boat – the utmost of Faroese handcraft. The Faroese boat was a lifeline to the people that settled the beautiful villages you see along the coastline. With this type of boat people discovered rich fishing grounds, and now you can follow in their footsteps. If this is your first attempt at fishing do not worry, sea-angling is easy to learn and fun too. Depending on sea current and weather there are several areas where you can expect to catch fish.Typical fishes in the areas are Atlantic cod, haddock and saithe. Sometimes you may catch whiting, ling, and tusk. Enjoy!
The fishing trip will be from a village outside Tórshavn, so if you do not have a rental car you will need to take the public bus or rent a car for this day only.
If you have a rental car, we suggest you explore the areas outside Tórshavn: Kirkjubøur, Vágar island and areas further north. If you do not have a rental car you can take the public bus to Kirkjubøur, which is the old cultural centre of the Faroe Islands. Visit the roughly 900-year-old Roykstovan, Ólav's church from AD 1111, named after King Olav the Holy. This church is the oldest church in the Faroe Islands and is still in use. See the ruins of St. Magnus Cathedral, which is one of the largest cultural attractions in the Faroe Islands. In the evening you will enjoy a 3-course dinner at Áarstova, where you get to taste the famous Faroese lamb.
Your experience on these small islands in the north has come to an end and we hope you have enjoyed everything we had to offer.
